Chase UK Discussion

For one tiny moment, you had me slightly excited which is a rare feat as I’m not known for being excitable.

I’m still a little disappointed in Chase, they’re a massive bank and their offering is still incredibly underwhelming.

I am just hoping these direct debits come with some perks. That will be the only reason to make me move mine from the Horse bank

I’ve gone back to American Express for my day to day spending, and now with the Barclaycard Avios card, there is no real reason to spend on Chase. Avios give you effective 0.8% back if converted to Nectar points and also offer S75

Unless the email actually stated 1 March, they’ve still got another 30 days left to make them available “from March”.

That what I realised when I read the email again

I’m still using Chase for my everyday personal expenditure which amounts to very little if I’m honest. I rarely spend over a £100 on much these days either to qualify for s.75 because of course I would use Amex or my interest free M&S credit card for s.75 protection. I’m now completely free of the Black Horse as I dumped their credit card last week because there was just no point in me keeping it anymore now the interest free period is over and unlike Amex with Avios, there weren’t any perks to make me keep the Lloyds card…

I’ll give Chase to the end of the cashback period and if they haven’t upped their game significantly by then, I’ll trade it in on a CASS assuming they bother themselves to join the CASS system. I’m running out of banks to CASS to though as there are some banks I will never join, That Spanish Bank, Barclays, Santander, Virgin, none of them float my boat whatsoever.

I’m not known for being miserable or negative (I’ll have you know), but in flicking through my Chase app, I came across an entry for today - 44p interest.

Realising, after some thinking time, that this could only be the interest which accrues from Roundups, it struck me that the 5% aer offering which gets its own app screen, is pretty much not all that (street talk).

I like Chase, but that general sense herein of underwhelmedness, feels right on the money.

So I’ve made a decision:
Unless Chase come forth with a bunch of attractive merchant discounts (they’re big enough for heaven’s sake), the deal will be broken.

There you are - I’ve said it :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

One upside thus far with Chase, has of course been the cashback. I’ve now earned almost £25 in cashback which is a better return than any savings account I could have been with in the last 6 months.

Very true.

I’ve amassed a chunk of change therewith.

You could swap that card for a Cashback card, 0.25% on first £4000 spent in a calendar year, then 0.5% afterwards

I have accounts with all of them, and some :rofl:

When the Chase one expires perhaps, but currently getting 1% on everything. Am yet to spend on a non qualifying category yet.

My Barclaycard and Amazon Platinum both sit ready atm, along with my Amex.

You’re talking super derisory amounts here, 0.25/0.5 percent

I know I’ll regret it, but - The Spanish Bank ?

Isn’t Santander, then?

Stop it!!! I know you’re only after a rise, but just in case there is someone who doesn’t get it, the clue is in the 1st letter of each word T S B

And my position is clear on this, it is a Spanish Bank operating under a British banking licence. I used to be a customer, but only for the CASS incentive. It wasn’t a great experience as a customer whilst I was one and of course the IT issues at the time didn’t help their cause.

It’s with great regret that I admit…… that one flew right over the top - whoosh, it went. :flushed:

You’ve now unknowingly exposed me to ridicule……I’m nowhere near as smart as I look :sunglasses:

Now where’s my coat

Just got back from NYC to celebrate my birthday. Used my Chase card everywhere - felt right at home! Here a few pics of some Chase branches - there are so many…

I have to state right now, that the whole shop front effect of Chase looks so much more bloody professional than the shi*t show we have on our High Streets here in the U.K. If bank branches looked that slick here on the outside, I’d probably use them! I mean the photos just ooze come in.
