Chase UK Discussion

So do does natwest.

On that note, what is chase missing that a standard current account should have?

Overdrafts
COP
CASS

Anything else?

No cheque imaging, but then neither does Monzo.

CoP, I’m sure that will come soon, but should have been in place at launch in my view.

Overdrafts, personally, I’d be happy if they didn’t even bother to offer them. Far too many people have become completely reliant on overdrafts and that’s not a good thing in my view.

CASS, again, I’m sure that will come eventually.

At the end of the day, Chase are finding their feet, undoubtedly listening to feedback and planning for the future. Yes, we’d all like to see an all singing all dancing account from the off, but it is what it is. I was absolutely disappointed initially at the lack of features and then, well they introduced an in house savings account that stuck two fingers up at the rest of the banking mob. I’m hoping Chase will get even better.

Happy to say that I have never had one in my life, nor needed to.

Was taught to budget from a young age and thereby live within my means.

Depending on your needs:

Use of Post Offices
Depositing cash
Cheque books
CHAPS payments and/or higher withdrawal limits

Of those, depositing cash would be top of my list.
They now already offer just about everything I need from a bank
(I do have pretty simple needs though)

How does it work with chase if you need to login again? Apparently you just need your phone number and six digit code. Also apparently you can only be logged into one device at a time.

That’s not even a thing for me anymore. I just don’t receive cash from anyone for anything these days. I find cash so disgusting that I’m still feeling ‘dirty’ from having to hand over a ten pound note for my tyre to be mounted the other day  Indeed I’m struggling to even remember the last time I paid any physical cash into a bank account, though around 6 or 7 years ago at the Nationwide seems to ring a bell.

For anyone interested, NS&I will NOT let you withdraw your Premium Bonds to Chase, or at least that is what their Fraud Prevention Security Team have told me this morning.

It is basically due to Chase UK not yet being part of the CoP scheme.

Had to withdraw to an alternative banking provider instead (of which i luckily have many that ARE on the CoP).

Thats an outright lie they have told you. The problem is the Chase sort code. NS&I have not updated their sort code directory and so Chase appears problematic.

This part is true, can attest to it myself as someone with two phones. Wish they’d fix this

I suspect they won’t, cause this will be likely similar to Monzo in that it’s part of their way of identifying the person installing is really you (Ala magic link)

Tried to use this for the first time on google pay today and it said i had to insert card.

I’ve used it once already by inserting pin.

Do i need to use the card contactless before it works on google pay?

Using the card on mobile wallet isn’t effected by the physical card hence why you can add before you get your card sounds like a terminal problem

I’ve never used the card, only Google pay.

Same here. Card arrived and got locked away same day. Never needed it tbf.

Has anyone used chase for Pay at pump?

Yes I did. It went through with no problems
