Chase UK Discussion

Goal hanging for a 3 figure switch incentive over here.

I am not convinced they are going to offer one, you know.

This £20 referral promotion, which costs them £40 per account, is more cost-effective for Chase, though admittedly, it does not encourage users to make Chase their main account.

I do have a Barclays current account ready to switch in though, if Chase ever do offer it and existing customers can benefit from the CASS switch, not just new customers.

I look forward to Chase joining the CASS network, but not for a cash incentive - more for the convenience.

Quite so, but then again, I don’t suppose any CASS incentive scheme encourages that. They have to earn that right.

Definitely. I have made £100s through switching, yet zero loyalty to any of them

This is why I’ve not opened an account yet. Wouldn’t benefit much from the 1% cashback as I use an Amex most places which matches that and a Tesco Bank Premium Card which is worth about .3% less. .5% additional interest isn’t worth it either (most of my money is tied up in LISA).

Better to leave the door open for a potential switching offer.

I’ve hit £60 cashback in 8 months. More than I would get with my Amex card (0.5% min £3,000 spend).

1.5% savings interest on my savings.

I will make more than any likely CASS incentive tbh

You’re making the mistake of counting the benefit compared to 0 there tho, rather the benefit compared to what you could get elsewhere.

If you’ve made £60 in cashback you’d have made £30 with your Amex card, so the benefit is only £30.

Atom offer a 1.25% easy access account so the benefit there is only an additional quarter of a percentage point. (Of course you’d be potentially forgoing a welcome offer there too, although the chances of them offering one compared to a Current Account provider are pretty low I’d have thought.)

Granted. However, I have been a Chase customer since day one, so never really on the cards anyway.

Yes, strangely I don’t view Chase with the same casual disregard that I hold for most others.

Mind you, I’ve long since ceased chasing the CASS cash (I rather like that :grinning:) and am much more taken with the path some accounts are taking.

For me, September will be interesting - what awaits us?

Thinking the exact same thing. September is when the cashback will start ending for some and it’ll be a big indication of what is reward banking going forward

They having problems again

All good now, it seems :grinning:

Yep September for me when my interest runs out. Been impressed so far with their offerings.

Just seen this on MSE Forum.

Chase broken again.

"Because of a technical issue, you can’t open a Chase account right now.

If you’ve recently tried to join us, it might take a while to receive your one-time passcode and verification email from us.

If you already bank with Chase, your usual notifications and messages from us might take a while to come through.

We know you count on your bank for the important things in life. We are working as fast as we can to fix the problem and will update you as soon as we know more. We’re sorry for any problems this causes you."

Have fact-checked it with Chase operational status page, and it’s confirmed.

That’s bothersome, given the seeming frequency these past few days.

Was surprised today when I was able to use my Chase via Google Pay for a £215 in store shop!

I thought Google Pay had a limit, but clearly not a low one, if it exists.

Nice bit of cashback and patio set looks great.

I hope they’ve not been down during a time someone was trying to use my referral :frowning:

I’m hoping to max it out before they kill off the program, but I’m a bit off the 20

Two issues today couldn’t transfer funds and then declined funds paying Apple Pay and have enough funds.

Interesting - nothing for today on their status page.

Weird. I have transferred funds today, and shopped using Google Pay. No issues at all :man_shrugging:
