They used to provide the only ‘free’ business account on the market.
If you setup a limited company (via certain accountants) then you could get their accounts FOC.
Welp, i applied on the 13th. Got an email that day then nothing until today, when half a tree arrived in the post (the "welcome pack), so 9 working days. Although i don’t have a card yet. My birthday is in March so maybe i’ll get it then!
I never used them and there are now other options like Starling or Tide now for low transaction accounts.
I think they’ve changed it now but they used to operate via RBS and not Santander for clearing & branch banking too.
Santander going down the old Virgin Lounge route it seems
Acceptance letter from Cater Allen.
As a private banking account holder, I’ll be shopping for a yacht later today.
Interesting, not sure about the ‘no need to be a Santander customer’ approach tho.
Aren’t you even better than that having multiple private banking accounts? (C&C etc.)

Small yacht, then (with a heli-pad, obviously ).
Just don’t forget to invite the cartel to your yacht-warming part!
Same address, of course. Saves on postage
You get post on a Sunday?
My Man collects it on Saturday and brings it by horse and trap.
Just think Downton Abbey
(I’ve clearly got appearances to keep up….),
I’m just gonna have to get my secretary to see about getting me one
Don’t want to burst your rich b*tch bubble but they used to accept anyone that could deposit 5k across the relationship.
Has that changed?
I know. I used to have an account in those days. Nice gold card.
They’ve dropped the £5k recently so will take all comers.
Interesting that they still have the Visa dove hologram on the front of the card. That’s a real throwback - I don’t think I’ve ever seen the ‘cut out’ version in that position, but back in the 90s/00s it was very common to have it in a shiny container to match the bulky logo of the time:
