Is there a Starling credit card in the offing? This is a response on LinkedIn to people voting on which additional categories should be added.
This doesn’t sound like a “maybe, we’ll see”, more like a “it’s coming”.

To be fair, even if Starling do launch a credit card, will it be administered by them? or will they farm it out?
Also, for me to be interested, they’d have to offer up something like a 20 month interest free period or it’s a complete non starter for me. I ditch and switch all the time. My Lloyds credit card interest free period ends in November and I’ll be searching out the next super long interest free period.
Starling have been promising to launch a credit card for several years. While I’m sure one is coming, I wouldn’t hold your breath…
Anne has spent ages building a brand, doubt they’d fog it off to NewDay to lose its value
As posted a while ago on the Monzo forum:
On the topic of Starling’s long-awaited credit card, Boden told AltFi that the bank is now actively in-testing with an SME credit card, but declined to comment on when it would launch.
“We have built our own card processor, and we have a huge amount of technology available to process card transactions.”
I’ve given up caring about it now. I remember when they had the forum and you could make personal requests. I got my company logo on my wage at least and it’s still there
Yeah. Starling, Atom and Monzo seem to have to dress it up when all they really mean is “stability and performance improvements”
Yes, it’s one thing that winds me up and I don’t know why I let it wind me up if I’m honest. I just find it peurile. It’s like they’ve employed a 5 year old to sit down and talk a load crap and then have the nuts to showcase it. Bizarre.
They could just be doing it because not many people actually read the release notes on android so it doesn’t matter what you say
Seeing as we’re already off-topic, this reminds me of when I used to write reports as a team leader in network engineering. I’d always write the last paragraph in Dutch, just to see if anybody actually read the reports. Nobody ever came back to me to ask why or what it meant
I think they’ve had dark mode ready for a while on Android. My battery was almost dead a few weeks ago and I opened the Starling app. It was proper dark mode - looked similar to how it looks on iOS.
It’s basically pointless. They just need to get rid of it at this point, they clearly don’t have the resources to keep up with it. They assured me once that they do review submissions and update the information, a year one with no logos updated I’m going to go with that being a bit of a fib. I don’t bother or care anymore, it just looks like a mess
It seems they stopped processing new logo requests around January 2020.
I got the feeling that they discovered some fundamental issues with their merchant logos system which caused inconsistencies and issues with some logos and names being applied to the wrong merchants (as I think they did some filtering on the name, so it wasn’t a 1-1), and decided they needed to re-do the system and so stopped accepting new requests until the new system was ready, but they’ve not been able to prioritise the development of the new system yet.
If they were planning to drop the icons at some point, I would have at least expected them to have removed the “Improve” link by now.
I think part of the issue is that the data they are working with is often sub-optimal. Looking at Wetherspoons as an example: one of my local pubs has the raw data as JD WETHERSPOON Watford GBR, so any transactions get tagged as being there (is this their head office?). Another branch has the Pub’s name/town/GBR, so that one gets correct location data.
Then my local supermarket has one terminal where the raw data is (SUPERMARKET NAME) (COUNTY) GREAT GBR, and one where it’s (SUPERMARKET NAME) (TOWN) GBR.
It can’t make it easy to create and apply consistent rules for geo-tagging and naming merchants.
The latest android update has forced many people to have to login again…
What is it with Starling and android
They are trying to tell you to switch to iOS!

Just tried to access my Starling account and had to do full log in (including the dreaded selfie video) again for some reason.
Now being told that the average review time for checking the details is 3 hours!!!
Good job I don’t need it in a hurry.
But why the need to go through all this rigmarole?
I haven’t logged out as far as I know.
