I think it was in those release notes above.
They’ve made some security changes for Android users and it requires them to log in again.

Ah, thank you.
That’ll teach me not to skim through threads without reading the posts properly lol
I had to do this on Friday when I got my new iPhone. The review time was 30 minutes at that point but it only took them around 10.
Not quite so bad.
All up and running again
Are they checking every single user again?!
I think they may be on Android!
It sounds like they are tightening up anti-money laundering procedures; I was just messing about in the app on iOS and noticed that you have to update your sources of income if you want to apply for another account (joint, second account, etc).
That’s a new requirement.
Just logged into my Android Starling app via fingerprint with no issues.
Am I lucky?
It may be that they just want to update older selfies, perhaps?
Mine was 2017. Can’t get much older,surely.
Forcing Android users to go through the full login process again including video submission is absolutely ludicrous. I tried to check my bank account this morning and had to jump through those hoops. Unable to access my account for around an hour. Extremely annoying!
From what I can see, it hasn’t added any new features.
Or have I missed something?
I mentioned this to them before. If RBS are ‘legacy’ then how come I can log into my rbs account in minutes but starling I have to wait over an hour
This isn’t a normal situation though. You should only ever have to login when you get a new device.
Yeah I’ve had to log in on a new device before and I wasn’t impressed when compared to RBS
The starling method is more secure though. If people don’t care about that then that is fine but they’re a bank so it makes sense to me.
I’ve just had the same. Needed to transfer some money out and found I had to record a video and wait an hour to access my own money. Not a great look for a mobile-first fintech bank.
I think that’s the most annoying thing - no warning at all. They should at least have done a service message before rolling out the update. I wonder if they actually discovered something quite critical and had to move fast…
I am running a slightly older version of the Starling app (v2.11) instead of the latest v2.17
I haven’t been asked/forced to update the app, so I wonder if Starling broke something rather it affecting all Android customers.
On Twitter, they were claiming it affected a “small number of Android users”…
