Again, I suspect being “inspired” by fintechs here was no accident!
just got my replacement Nationwide Select credit card and it’s now blue and mostly recycled plastic. At least I can read the phone number now as it’s been RNIB tried and tested.
How utterly underwhelming.
Still, it’s better than the new Halifax and HSBC designs, because the logo isn’t duplicated.
Definitely a case of less is more (I think ).
I agree.
I couldn’t really imagine the “swirls” from the current design working very well in the portrait orientation.
Reminds me of the business card scene in American Psycho…
Got my new NatWest Debit Mastercard today! I think I actually prefer this one now I’ve seen it in real life.
There’s just something about the Master symbol at the top that looks horrendous
I think just because it clashes with the colours they’ve used for the rest of the card?
I suppose the designers at NatWest decided not to limit themselves to the colour wheel and it’s prescriptive approach to complementary colours!
I agree, it looks really out of place. I don’t mind the Visa logo in the top left on the old card as it seems to fit in better
There’s just so much empty space and a nice dark purple background in the bottom right corner where the logo usually is. Why couldn’t it go there?
Got mine too - definitely a downgrade with a not nice blue colour, no Select branding plus the chip is gold.
Mines up for renewal in April.
From what you 2 have said, I’m not looking forward to seeing it.
Phew… I have just checked and the expiry is 04/26 and not 22
I get to keep my lovely silver card for another 4 years yay!!!
Enjoy the nicer design.
Given that they’ve ditched the ‘Select’ branding on the card itself; it wouldn’t surprise me if they migrate everyone across to the newer Member’s cards - which are pretty much identical except the higher APR 19.9% v 15.9%… I’ll keep it for the time being as Visa Credit cards are becoming an endangered species outside Barclaycard.
My Select card APR is 9.9% so I hope not!
Showing your age as NBS Select has been offsale for a while and was either 15.9% or 19.9% APR before going offsale.
A side note, ordered a replacement RBS debit card and another Visa Debit has appeared in my app. I guess they must be rolling them out in NWB first.
Same for me when I did it a month or so ago! On Twitter they’re saying MasterCards are being issued to “new customers and replacement cards”. I wonder if they might not (yet) replace certain cards belonging to specific branches? Was it a standard RBS card or one of the special ones?
Same here. I ordered a replacement Child&co card 4 days ago and it is the same VISA as it used to be…
