The card design thread

Only the current account i’m led to believe?

Although they’ve brought out ‘Clubcard Pay’ which looks to be a skimmed down current account….

I believe it’s just their main current account they’re winding down. Credit cards, saving accounts are remaining. And they’ve just introduced their Clubcard Pay+ thing which is part of Tesco Bank. So in short, nope… don’t think so.

No, I didn’t save any screenshots and they looked to only be concept designs anyway, but it looked rather like the old HSBC Connected Money beta from a few years ago.

It also seems to have lots of white space, a bit like the First Direct app.

Has anyone seen about the new ‘Lavender’ Revolut card yet

I saw it was available but I haven’t ordered one!

Saw the new Halifax vertical debit card recently
Looked like Halifax Clarity and Starling had a Visa love child.

No, just getting rid of unprofitable products: current accounts now and offloaded the mortgage book to Halifax/LBG a couple of years ago.

Tesco sold off non-core operations a few years ago but retained the bank and mobile ops for the time being.

From the screenshots I saw in Customer Studio, it looked very a evolution of the current app, not a brand new replacement though dinner of their recent investor presentations on HSBC.com have given some colour on their digital plans

I’m not sure I’ve seen pictures of it. Do you have a photo?

That sounds like the card for their new Money Smart kids account.

That looks really nice! I hope they design all their cards like that

Have had my new Halifax Clarity credit card in my wallet for two weeks now. Not used it yet.

Looked at it today and it has gouge marks across the face, obviously from the wallet and being in my back pocket.

Must use really cheap plastic in production to scare that easily.

In contrast, my Barclaycard has been in their longer and is scuff free :man_shrugging:

Can you show a picture of the damage? My Barclaycard is in an awful condition from being in my wallet, I’d say it’s the worst quality card I have

Tried to wipe them off, but then realised the card was actually scored.

Not impressed tbh.

Oh my, poor show for an LBG brand.

This is quite surprising, I’ve always found Lloyds Group debit and credit cards to be very good quality in the past - even the tipping on the embossed numbers used to rarely fall off.

Was browsing rewards credit cards on a comparison site and spotted two M&S cards which seem fairly decent. Since when do they have this design?

Club Rewards only launched recently as a replacement for their M&S Premium current account, so I imagine that’s when the new card designs were released.

I agree with you, the design is good as it matches general M&S branding and manages to be simple and clean without looking cheap.

Indeed - they launched the new cards back in late June / early July. The Rewards card is as it appears, flat (not embossed, apart from the two dots to signify it’s a credit card), and with all details, including the cardholder name on the rear of the card.

Club Rewards is £10 per month on top, and as you must already be a credit card customer, I assume they issue a new card once you sign up.

Whilst the rewards are pretty good (especially if you spend at M&S), they are not currently very “fintech”; no instant notifications, the available credit updates nearly instantly if you know where to look, but there’s no pending transactions, so the transaction generally appears 2 days later when completed. Also, there are no card security controls, although there’s a card management section in the mobile app (with “coming soon”).

Both Curve and Google Pay still only have the previous all black card style as well (although between them they provide the missing instant notification / confirmation); to be fair to them, the M&S Bank Android mobile app still shows the card as an all black card too.
